CLARA’s primary purpose is to advance climate solutions rooted in social justice, the restoration of ecosystems, community control of working lands, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Reliance on solutions that depend on large-scale modification of the biosphere or ocean systems, or that propose untested technologies like bioenergy with carbon capture and storage, must be avoided. CLARA members monitor the social, political and scientific context within which these geoengineering solutions are proposed.
